BETTENDORF-David K. Breiby, 68, of Bettendorf, passed away Saturday December 24, 2022 at Davenport Lutheran Home.
Visitation will be Monday January 2, 2023 from 4:00-7:00pm at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to the family for a memorial to be placed at Indian Bluff Golf Course.
David was born on September 2, 1954 in Rock Island, the son of Melvin and Beverly (Layer) Breiby.
Dave worked and retired from John Deere as the Chairman of Local 79 at the Parts and Distribution Center in Milan, IL.
He was an avid golfer and member of the Indian Bluff Golf Course. Along with golfing, he spent his time as an ASA umpire. As his daughters were growing up he dedicated many years as the head coach for the Milan Aces softball team.
Survivors include his children, Kari (Brian) Stuart, Haines City, Florida, Sandra (Matt) Rolling, Bettendorf, Lindsey Breiby, Rock Island; 9 grandchildren; siblings, Connie (Mike) Patrick, Rock Island, Julie (Fred) Rodts, Milan, Mike Breiby, Milan and Doug Breiby, Rock Island.

Friends from childhood. You will be missed. My condolences to family and friends. Dave and I grew up together. Played baseball all summer. Learned to golf together at Indian Bluff. Basketball and football at Edison Jr. High . Fun parties. Rest in peace my friend.

I am very sorry to learn of Dave´s passing. I visited with him briefly several years ago. I´m not sure why he remembered me but his fast ball, back in the day, convinced me that I wasn´t a baseball player. I´ll always remember him for his great smile and personality. May God bless his family through this difficult time.
