MOLINE-David Kakavas, 61, of Moline died Friday, May 26, 2023, at home.

Graveside service 2:30 pm, Friday, June 2, 2023 at Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation prior to service from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm, at Wendt Funeral Home, Moline, IL.

Memorials may be made to the Military Veterans Project, PO Box 3926, Topeka, KS 66604.

Survivors include daughter Alyssa (Chance) Forehand; son Christian (Schona) Byrd; grandchildren Lynley, Carter, Brooklyn, Olivia, Liam, and Casidy; sisters AmyCooper, Kara Chaar, and Rebecca Kakavas; brothers Timothy Kakavas and Kristian Kakavas.

Dave just popped into my mind this evening. A memory of when I knew him. Thirty years ago. I just saw this very heartbreaking news of his passing. It was a gift to know him. A short time....but a memorable time. I still tell his jokes. He was a character! My god he made us all laugh.
