January 28, 1930 - September 26, 2025
Don A. Swanson, 95, of Moline, Ill., passed away Friday, September 26, 2025, at Clarissa Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, Iowa.
A Celebration of Life service will be 10 a.m., Monday, October 20, 2025, at First United Presbyterian Church, Moline. Visitation will be Sunday, October 19, 2025, at Rafferty Funeral Home, 2111 First Street A. Moline, 3 to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Presbyterian Church or Samaritan's Purse.
Don was born January 28, 1930 in Moline, the son of Arthur and Ruth (Larson) Swanson. He married Sally Snyder on August 31, 1952 in Moline. She preceded him in death on August 27, 2021.
Don served in US Army Reserves and retired from the former Illinois Bell Co. after 32 years of service. Don was a member of First United Presbyterian Church, Moline where he served as an Elder; he was a Telephone Company Pioneers. He enjoyed camping and traveling. He went on mission trips to Brazil and Africa. Don and Sally were Foster Parents to many children. He was a man after God's own heart. His joy, laughter and love touched all he met.
Survivors include his children, Susan Hogg, Moline, Dave (Sandra) Swanson, Moline and Sheri (Jeff) Patterson, Moline; and daughter-in-law, Susie Swanson, North Augusta, S.C.; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and four great great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Steve; great-granddaughter, Kelsie; and sister, June Hedquist.
