Donald (Don) Arthur Goethals

Donald (Don) Arthur Goethals, age 88, of Bloomington MN, passed away January 20, 2021. Survived by devoted wife, Kathryn (Katy); seven children; 21 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Susan (Dick) Rowland and Maureen (late Bob) Simpson; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Rachel Goethals, and sister Joan (Jim) Pinks.
Don was born in Moline IL, became an Army Sergeant serving in the Korean Conflict. He graduated from St. Ambrose University in 1957, married Katy that same year. Don worked for New York Life Insurance for 32 yrs. They lived in Moline IL, Des Moines IA, Chicago IL, Bloomington & Medina, MN.
Don generously contributed time/money to various community/religious organizations including the Rosemoor Community Association (Chicago), Loaves & Fishes, Pax Christi Home Bound Eucharistic Ministry, reading to local children, visiting prisoners, among many others.
Services will be held when it's safe to gather pending COVID-19 in MN.

I was surprised when I saw Don wearing a Cubs hat. He was a lifelong White Sox fan. He loved sports.
