ROCK ISLAND-Donna M. Downing, 88, of Rock Island, passed away Sunday, August 22, 2021 at her home.
Services will be at 11:00 am Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 - 7th Ave., Rock Island and will be live-streamed at www.wheelanpressly.com/live-stream. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 am Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
Donna was born February 7, 1933 in Moline, a daughter of Edward and Frances (Beckstrom) McCaffery. She married David L. Downing on September 8, 1951 in Moline, IL.
Donna worked for many years at Laurelwood in Rock Island as a certified nursing assistant. Her hobbies included; knitting, reading, word searches and making calendars and crafts.
Surviving are her children (and spouses), Dan (Alin) Downing, Anacortes, WA, Dawn Matejcek, and Doug (Lori) Downing, all of Rock Island; grandchildren, Christina (DeMarcus) McLemore, Amber (Jeremy) Layman and Thomas Downing; great-grandchildren, Jasmine, Alyssa, Raymond, Matthew, and Isaiah; and great-great-granddaughter, Azaylah.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter, Susan Bass, and sisters, Beverly Peck and Doris Pecoraro.
