COAL VALLEY-Eldon D. Wilson, 80, of Coal Valley, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 23, 2021, at home.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 13, at Homewood Evangelical Church, Moline, with The Rev. Mark Frazee officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to services. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Cemetery, Moline. Cremation will take place prior to services at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the ALS Des Moines Chapter, Team "It All Counts" in honor of his daughter, Sheri.
Eldon Duane Wilson was born January 22, 1941, in Tilden, Nebraska, the son of Ralph and Grace (Plumb) Wilson. He married Karon McKnight on December 14, 1958, in Meadow Grove, Nebraska. He worked for 32 years at John Deere as a machinist, retiring in 1994.
He was a gifted woodworker who enjoyed building anything and working with his hands. He also enjoyed shooting guns. Above all else, family was the most important thing to Eldon, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Eldon is survived by his beloved wife of over 62 years, Karon; three children, Ricky Wilson of Coal Valley, Sheri (Mike) Counts of Ankeny, Iowa, and Cindy (Jon) Kunzle of Moline; a daughter-in-law, Diane Wilson of St. Cloud, Florida; grandchildren, Shane and Wyatt Wilson, David (Emily) Counts, Allison (Chris) Brey, Cara Wilson, and Nick and Justin Kunzle; great-grandchildren, Walker Wilson, Chloe Counts and baby boy Counts on the way, Dahlia Kunzle, and Raiden, Oden and Eli Fachko; two siblings, Larry (Lola) Wilson of Viola, Illinois, and Beverly Rice of Silvis, Illinois; a brother-in-law, Tom Halsey; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Danny Wilson; a sister, Katherine Halsey; and a brother-in-law, Rodean Rice.
