VISTA, CA-Ellen Ekstrom, 77, formerly of the Quad Cities passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2022 in Vista, California. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Ellen Ekstrom was born in Moline to Louis and Bonnie Schaumburg. She married Donald Ekstrom on September 1, 1977, in Bettendorf, Iowa. Ellen and Don had a collaborative and caring relationship. It was based on mutual support and a deep love for each other. Ellen graduated in 1963 from Rock Island High School in the top 10% of her class. She worked for the Rock Island Arsenal as a Production Equipment Manager for 30 years, in addition to creating her business "My Very Own Books". Ellen was a tireless and selfless volunteer for 30 years at American Businesswomen's Association, Eastern Star, and Meals on Wheels. Her greatest joy was spending time with her loved ones, and she enjoyed painting, baking, and traveling the world.
Ellen was one-of-a-kind and gave so much love to everyone around her. She was admired for her generosity and kindheartedness.
Ellen is survived by her loving husband, Donald; three children, Matthew, Christina, and Daniel; best friend and sister Lynda and spouse Tim Frost; many nieces and nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
