Frank Fenno Obituary

Frank S. Fenno III

July 24, 1943 - October 27, 2024

Frank S. Fenno lll, of Colona, Ill., passed away on October 27, 2024, while at home surrounded by his family and friends after a long courageous battle with cancer. Visitation will take place on Friday, November 1, 2024, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Gibson-Bode Funeral Home in Port Byron, Ill. A private family burial service will take place on Monday, November 4th, at Colona Cemetery in Colona, Ill.

He is survived by his wife, Sara, of nearly 62 years; their children, Sherry (Scott) Carlson of Jefferson, Ga. and Michelle Rolsch (Alan Mohr) of Eldridge, Iowa. He is the grandfather to six grandchildren and great-grandfather to four amazing boys in which he played a significant role. He was always a fishing partner, playing games, building model cars, attending school and sporting events, and spent late nights on the phone supporting, listening and loving. He was always there for them. They include Brandi (Alex and Breckon) Brutsche, Scott (Gina, Jack and Finn) Neer, Kassidy Neer, Kayli Neer, Alex Rolsch and Caitlin (Cooper) Rolsch who played an exceptional part of his daily life and care. They shared a mutual understanding, and she was truly the light of his days.

Frank was born to Frank II and Ebba Fenno of Colona, where he was raised and farmed the family land. Later he worked for Farmall in Rock Island, Illinois.

Frank had a love of family, friends, Fords, and Farmalls, not necessarily in that order!

Frank was a master of all. He could build it, rebuild it and repair anything, especially if it had a motor in it. He cherished passing his knowledge and love of cars to his grandsons and friends. He was an artist, could play nearly any instrument he picked up and had the gift of conversation! If you had hours to spare, he would happily fill them with his stories!

He was preceded in death by his sister, Marcia; and their parents. He will be deeply missed and his memory will be forever carried on. Share a memory or condolence at www.gibsonbodefh.com.

Dear Sara & family,
I was very saddened to hear of Frank´s passing. I worked at Dr Ray´s office and always showed talking to Frank. We teased each other about Junior mints, he said he would only eat 1 mint a day and that was beyond my understanding. I would eat a whole box so Frank would bring me boxes of them to the office. He would tell me all about his cats too. He was so sweet to all of us girls. My thoughts and prayers are with you Sara and your family.
