Fred M. Gibson, 85, of Moline, Ill., died Friday, June 6, 2025, at home.

Visitation is 10 a.m., Saturday, June 21, in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, followed by a Masonic service at 11 a.m. Friends are invited to continue the celebration of Fred's life immediately following services at Les & Molly's, 1502 15th Street, Moline. Memorials may be made to Shriners Children's Hospital.

Fred Marion Gibson was born October 28, 1939, in Auburn, Illinois, the son of Everett and Mary (Newberry) Gibson. He married Mary Ellen Scobell on June 1, 1963, in Hillsboro, Illinois, and the couple had four children prior to separating. He worked at Case IH as a welder amongst other duties, retiring in 2002.

He was very active in the community, belonging to the Kaaba Shriners Hospital, Scottish Rite Valley of Moline, Dori Lodge #319 AF & AM, Moline Vikings Club, and the Royal Order of Jesters. He helped run the Shriners Hospital charity ASA girls' softball tournament for many years at Green Valley and volunteered with the Festival of Trees for over 20 years.

Fred enjoyed fishing, and playing darts and pool in his younger years. He loved studying and learning, playing cribbage and checkers, traveling, being around other people, and most importantly, spending time with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren.

He is survived by four children, Christopher (Denise) Gibson of Douglasville, Ga., Carolyn "Keli" (Randall) Schaller of Fairfield, Iowa, Lee (Cynthia) Gibson of Murrieta, Calif., and Charity Barnett of Rock Island; six grandchildren, Stacey (Jared) Houske, Brianna Skovronski, Kayla (Zacharey) Saxon, Amber Stutzman, Tabitha Schaller, and James Gibson; six great-grandchildren, Parker, Cambrie, Kade, Carter, Cameron, Alexander, and Naomi; a brother, Marion "Jack" Logsdon; and sisters, Audrey Bess, Elsie Jones, and Nora Pangelinan. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Wayne Barnett; brothers, Albert, Eugene, Francis, and Gilbert Lee Gibson; and sisters, Dorothy and Aubrey Gibson, and Dorothy Grubb.

Fred and I were good friends in his later years. I am so sorry for his family. He was a good man who loved life. Now he is in God´s arms.
