Giovanni Enrique Flores, 17, of Moline, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 5, 2024.
A memorial mass is 10:00 AM on Friday, May 10, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline, with Father Mark DeSutter officiating. Visitation is 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday, at Trimble Funeral Home & Crematory at Trimble Pointe, Moline, where a Rosary will be recited at 3:00 PM. Gio will be laid to rest in Moline Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established in Gio's memory.
Born on January 23, 2007, in Moline to Miguel Flores and Cristina Rios, Giovanni, affectionately known as Gio, was a beloved son, brother, and friend.
Gio was currently a junior at Moline High School and worked at Johnny's Italian Steakhouse, where his charm and quick wit made him a favorite among his co-workers. His passions were as vibrant as his personality; he had an unparalleled love for fast cars, a commitment to fitness, and an eye for fashion, ensuring his shoes and attire were always impeccable.
Known for his infectious smile and humor, Gio had the unique ability to light up any room he entered and leave a lasting impression with his jovial spirit. His big heart and deep love for his family were evident to all who knew him. Gio always put his family and friends first, cherishing every moment spent with them.
Gio leaves behind his loving parents, Cristina Rios and Miguel Flores; sister, Isabel Rios; brother, Romeo Flores; grandmothers: Martha Mobley and Ana Rios; great-grandmother, Ana Rios Aguilera; aunts and uncles: Cristela Santos, Ana Martinez, Alma Hernandez, Maria Gonzalez, and David Rios; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Guillermo Lara and Jose Gonzalez, and aunt, Nancy Flores.
