April 5, 1941 - March 28, 2025
Janet Gail Hoff, 83, of East Moline, passed away March 28th, at her home.
Per Jan's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and there will be no visitation. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date. VanHoe Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left in care of your favorite charity. Janet was born April 5, 1941, in Moline, Ill., daughter of Andre (Tazz) and Isabella (Sally) Miller VanOverschelde. She grew up in East Moline and was a 1959 graduate of UTHS. She married Gary Lee Hoff on Valentine's Day, February 14, 1960.
She had been employed at Illini Hospital and retired from John Deere Health.
Janet always enjoyed visits and calls from family, flowers, working in the yard, and decorating for holidays. She also enjoyed her High School Reunions and get-togethers and lunches with her school friends and coworkers.
Survivors include children, Barry (Tracy) Hoff, Rebecca Hoff, Elizabeth (Tim) Ripka, Andrea (John) Weel, and Sarah (Mike) Neff; grandchildren, Olivia, Alexis, Shaun (Jade), Gary, Michael, Brittany (Tony), Henry, Macy, Sunnie, Elliotte; and great-grandchildren, Brent and Hayden.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary; her parents, Tazz and Sally; and grandparents, Charles and Rachel (Rowley) Miller, and Maurice and Zulma (DeVos) VanOverschelde.
May they rest in peace.
Farewell dear children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, relatives and friends. A loving thought, a silent tear, a constant wish you will be here.
Shadows are fallin' and I'm running out of breath. If I leave you, it doesn't mean I love you any less.
Hold me in your thoughts. Take me to your dreams. Touch me as I fall into view. When winter comes keep the fires lit and I will be right next to you. Keep me in your heart for a while.

Our deepest condolences for the loss of your Mom Barry, Becky, Beth, Andrea, and Sarah. Some of my fondest childhood memories are of hanging out with the Hoff's "down the street". And it wasn't just the kids, Jan and Gary were always there too making sure we had drinks and snacks throughout the day. Truly great people!

We were neighbors in Fair Acres addition in Silves and our kids grew up together in that neighborhood and stayed friends after that. Lots of good times in the old days. You and Gary will always be in my prayers.

Janet and I grew up together. We have been forever friends. We talked several times lately in early evening. We talked about the good times we had. Last time we talked she told me she loved me and I said the same. I will truly miss her.
