Joe Keith Wasson

Joe Keith Wasson, 94, of Moline, IL, formerly of Silvis, passed away February 10, 2024, at Cedarhurst, Moline.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 24, at Christ United Methodist Church, East Moline. Burial, with military honors conducted by the East Moline American Legion Post 227, will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Memorials may be made to Christ United Methodist Church or to Garner Elementary PTO for use in his granddaughter's classroom for student's science projects.
Joe was born April 7, 1929 in McDonough County, IL, the son of J. Kenneth and Lillie B. Martin Wasson. He married Doris Ross on June 5 1948, in Monmouth, IL. She preceded him in death on September 4, 2023.
Joe was a U.S. Army veteran during the Korean War. He was a Counselor and Science teacher at Moline High School for over 25 years, retiring as Head of the Counseling Dept.
He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. He and Doris loved to travel and go on cruises. Joe enjoyed working in his woodshop and was an avid collector of paperweights.
Survivors include his children; Janet (Thomas) Struss, East Moline and Jeffrey (Dianne) Wasson, Iowa City, IA; grandchildren: David (Nina) Struss, Annika (Kevin) Buell, and Trevor Wasson; and great-grandson, Caden Struss.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Doris.
