Joyce Ann Fox Dobbels, 86, of Cambridge, died peacefully at Allure Nursing Home, Geneseo on Saturday, December 16, 2023.

Private services will be in Knoxville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services, Cambridge.

Memorials may be made to Quad Cities Animal Welfare Center, Milan.

Joyce was born December 5, 1937, but wasn't registered until December 6, in Knoxville, IL, making her birthday a question all her life. She was the daughter of Edward L. Fox and Mildred L. (Larson) Fox. Joyce graduated from Knoxville High School in 1956. Following high school, she attended and graduated from Brown's Business College. The Fox family was musical, playing steel guitar and guitar.

Joyce met her husband, Alvin Dobbels at a family wedding. They married on August 2, 1958, in Geneseo. Alvin died on November 29, 2019. They started married life in Knoxville, but ultimately moved to and settled in Cambridge to raise their family.

Joyce was a homemaker, and was a good cook and baker. She loved spending time with her husband and family. And, she had a green thumb, gardening, and growing flowers. In recent years, she enjoyed playing Bingo and watching football on TV.

Those left to honor Joyce's memory include her children: Susan (Dean) Borders of Blue Grass, IA, Scott (Elizabeth) Dobbels of Silvis, IL, Ted (Deidre) Dobbels of Crystal Lake, IL; grandchildren: Dustin Dobbels, Abigail Dobbels, Adam Borders, Greyson Dobbels, Finnegan Dobbels, Alexandra Sloan, Chance Vicary, Andrew (Lea) Borders, Amber (Matt) Lingen; and great-grandchildren: Owen, Gabe and Henry Lingen. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, James Fox.

The family would like to thank Allure Nursing Home, Hammond Henry Hospital, and Compassus Hospice for Joyce's care.
