CORDOVA-Karen M. McLaughlin, 75, of Cordova, IL, died Saturday, May 20, 2023 at her home. Services will be held at 10:00 am Friday, May 26, 2023 at Gibson – Bode Funeral Home, Port Byron. Visitation will be from 4-7 pm on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Cordova Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the University of Iowa Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center, Iowa City.

Karen was born February 23, 1948 in Thorold, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of Thomas and Mary (Morris) Roblin. She married Morris McLaughlin on May 8, 1971 in Louisiana. The couple settled in Cordova and Karen worked as a beautician for the first years of their marriage until having children. Once her boys were older, she worked a variety of jobs including seasonal work for Golden Harvest Seed, custodial help at Riverdale Schools and at Von Maur in Moline where she loved being a sales associate in the women's petite department.

Karen was an excellent cook and baker and enjoyed teaching her granddaughter those skills. In years past she loved working in her vegetable and flower gardens. In recent years she was an avid reader and developed a strong bond with the Cordova Library and it's staff. She was most passionate about her 4 grandchildren.

Karen is survived by her loving husband, Morris McLaughlin; sons, Eric (Shelley) McLaughlin, Rapids City, IL, Michael McLaughlin (Amy Gleisner), Chicago, IL; grandchildren, Adysen and Nolan McLaughlin of Rapids City, Miles and Will McLaughlin of Chicago; and a brother, Randy Roblin, Beaumont, TX.
