MOLINE-Larry W. McHenry, 83, of Moline, died Friday, April 14, 2023 at UnityPoint Health – Trinity, Rock Island. A funeral service will be 1 pm Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at Van Hoe Funeral Home, 1500 6th Street, East Moline. Visitation will be from 3-6 pm Monday, April 24, 2023 at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made in care of New Boston Historical Society, 301 Main Street, New Boston, Ill. 61272.
Larry was born in Moline, Illinois on August 23, 1939 a son of Robert J. and Ruth Sharrar McHenry. He married Doris E. Flinn on January 30, 1959. They had three wonderful children with whom they raised together. Larry and Doris later divorced.
Larry worked almost 40 years as a gas regulator for Iowa/Illinois Gas and Electric, now MidAmerican Energy. He retired in 1997. Larry was the business manager of the IBEW Local #109.
Larry was an avid stock car racing enthusiast with a yellow #34 Chevy. He was collector of many things, especially decoy ducks. Larry was a passionate genealogist and historian who researched, collected and authored his family's historical records amongst other things.
Those left to cherish his memory include his significant other, Janice Kuehl, Davenport; children, Larry W. McHenry II, Bettendorf, Dori Lynn (Daniel) Cosgrove, Moline and Teresa (Curt) Jackson, East Moline; grandchildren, Chad, Jason, Ryan, Heather, Brian, Sean, Melissa and Skylar-Vienna; ten great-grandchildren; sister, Roberta (Lanny) Wright, Moline; and brother, Mike (Pam) McHenry, San Antonio, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, great-granddaughter, Adelyn Cosgrove, brother, Kenneth McHenry and sister, Kathleen Baraks.

I just found out today that Larry passed away. I interacted with Jan and him many times at BK. I´ll miss seeing him at the big round table. My sincere sympathy to Jan and his entire family.

Oh dear friend, you have moved on to the best life. We always had each other´s backs, and worked like heck for the people we represented. I will remember all the great memories! On Angels wings my dear friend.
