Larry Miner Obituary
March 15, 1944 - August 11, 2024
Larry E. Miner, 80, of Rock Island, passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2024, at his home. Memorial services for Mr. Miner will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted by the Milan American Legion Post No. 569. Memorials may be made to the family.
Larry was born on March 15, 1944, in Davenport, IA., a son of Benjamin and Avril (Douglass) Miner. He and his first wife, Linda, had three children together, Kristina, Caralee, and Brian. He also had a fourth child, Tonya, with his second wife, Jodi.
Larry was a Rock Island High School graduate. He later enlisted in the US Army. After many years of dedicated employment, he then retired from John Deere. Later he worked for Exide Technologies, Burlington. Mr. Miner attended Edgewood Baptist Church, Rock Island. He was a member of the VFW and served as President at the Eagles Club. Larry enjoyed shooting pool in his spare time.
Survivors include his children, Kristina (Michael) Kolodziej, South Elgin, ILL., Caralee (Hunter) Collins, Rock Island, Brian (Danelle) Miner, Davenport, and Tonya Rigsby, Springfield, Ohio.; grandchildren, Devin, Taryn, Allison, Alexa, Zachary, and Kayla; many nieces and nephews; and a sister, Patricia Wiederkerhr.
