Larry D. Nahrgang, 82, of East Moline passed away October 2, 2023, at his home.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Christ United Methodist Church in East Moline. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time. Memorials may be made to Christ United Methodist Church or Parkinson's Foundation. Schroder Mortuary in Silvis is assisting the family with arrangements.
Larry was born August 4, 1941, in Moline, IL, the son of Percy and Katherine Nahrgang. He married Janice Parks, June 26, 1976, in Rock Island, IL. Larry graduated from UTHS, received a bachelor's degree from Illinois State University in Elementary Education, a master's degree from Northern Illinois in Education Administration with Certification in Ed.S. in Educational Administration Superintendent Preparation. He taught for most of his career in the Moline School District. He also had an administrative position for two years at Arrowhead Ranch.
Larry enjoyed running, reading, traveling, watching Jeopardy, singing in the Christ United Methodist Men's Choir, and watching football, baseball, and hockey. He was an avid Illini fan and in his high school years, he was active in the drama club and played football.
Survivors include his wife, Jan; children, Wendy (Alvaro) Castillo, Jennifer (Jerry) Caldwell-Engholm of Silvis, Raymond (Kathleen) Monterastelli of Evergreen Park, IL, Leonard (Ruthy) Nahrgang of Tucson, AZ, Lamont (Juli) Nahrgang of Temple, TX, Annemarie (Yvan) Bordon of Paris, France, and Jeremy Nahrgang of Las Vegas, NV; 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and siblings: Gary (Sandy) Nahrgang, Jim (Marion) Nahrgang, and Carol Smith.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents.
