Earlier today
I loved working for him as a line supervisor on 2nd shift in v-building and in production control as the parts hot list coordinator. Two stories. First as the hot list coordinator every late afternoon we met and I gave him the hot parts that were needed for the next day´s production. Lloyd always ate his dinner during our meeting and on this particular night he had a hard boiled egg, cracked it open on the edge of his desk above his lap and this time the egg landed all over his lap as it was not boiled. He called his wife immediately and blasted her the riot act and then slammed the phone down. Then with his wry smile winking with enjoyment said. "she did that on purpose." Second one is one night in October we were told by Lloyd to stay until the v-building was cleared for inventory shut down. About 11:00 PM he stopped over and gave me I think $40 and asked if this was enough for pizza from a pizza place in Silvis and he told me to get enough for all the supervisors and to pick them up and then call him on the radio because he wanted to join us for pizza. I radioed him when I returned to the Harvester Works and when he stopped by to eat in front of all my work supervisors asked me if I had a beer. I said "of course not. I had 2. He laughed, we all laughed. Even though I have not seen him in years I had always loved his mentoring of me.

I really liked Lloyd. When I filled in for the second shift maintenance supervisors, he would come by and talk about factory priorities and ask about my family. Lloyd was tough, but very fair. He used to let me use his Cushman scooter on the day shift in the factory (as long as I kept it full of gas!) Everyone has a Lloyd Stab story. Im sure many will be laughingly told at the visitation. RIP buddy!
