Funeral services for Merle Jean "Jeanie" Baxter, 88, of East Moline, IL, will be 2:00 PM Saturday, April 6, 2024, at the Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation will be 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. Friday, April 5, 2024, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Baxter passed away Monday, April 1, 2024, at Celebrate Senior Living, Moline, IL.
Merle Mott was born January 11, 1936, in Rock Island, the daughter of Eugene and Merle Olmstead Mott. She married John Baxter October 28, 1956, in Rock Island. He passed away in December of 1976.
Survivors include her daughter, Brenda (Bill) Beard, East Moline; daughter-in-law, Dana (Tim) Baxter-Hillin, Birmingham, AL; grandchildren: Denton (Brittany) Beard, Nathan (Holly) Beard, Adrian (Amanda) Beard, Ashlie (Kendrick) Beard-Brooks, Hanna (Robert) Hinojosa, and Sarah Baxter; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Jonna Tyler, Milan, IL; niece, Rhonda Lewison; and nephew, Jerry Tyler.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Daniel Baxter; brother-in-law, Don Tyler; and nephew, Jay Tyler.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to Moline Church of Christ 4800 38th Avenue, Moline, IL, 61265.
