Michael J. Palmer
May 21, 1948-November 1, 2022
SHERRARD-Michael J. Palmer, 74, of Sherrard, passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at his home. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Monday, November 7, 2022, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan. Visitation is 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, November 6 at the funeral home. Burial will be in German Cemetery, Sherrard. Memorials may be made to the Sherrard Area Veterans Memorial.
Mike was born May 21, 1948, in Galesburg, a son of William Palmer and Barbara Thomas. He graduated from Sherrard High School and served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Mike married Cindy Cooper on July 9, 1977, at Beulah Church. Mike worked as an electrician for IBEW Local 145. He enjoyed farming and spending time outdoors. Mike especially liked harvest season, operating large machinery, and taking Sully for rides in "Old Blue." Above all, Mike loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Those left to honor Mike's memory include his wife, Cindy; daughter, Stacy (Tom) Cameron, Sherrard; son, Kevin (Kara) Palmer, Washington, IL; grandchildren, Rylee, Kensie, and Aimee Iverson and Hudson and Noah Palmer; brother, Steve Palmer, Fort Myers, FL; sisters, Linda Sprau, Watseka, IL, Leslie Laughlin, Keithsburg, IL, and Kristy Edge, Arbyrd, MO; dog, Sully; and several nieces and nephews.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents.
