Patricia Schneider Obituary

Patricia Ann Johnson Schneider, beloved wife of Don Schneider, passed away on Wednesday October 29, 2025, at Bridle Brook Assisted Living in Mahomet, Illinois with family at her side.

Pat was born on July 20, 1942, to Wilber F. (Bud) and Louise (Freeburg) Lievens in Moline, Illinois. She married Ken Johnson in 1962, and together they raised three children: Susan, Kris, and Todd. In 2005, Pat married Don Schneider in Tucson, Arizona.

Pat grew up in the Quad Cities and graduated from Moline High School. She started her career doing office administrative work at International Harvester in East Moline. That led to jobs in administrative support positions in many different school districts. She found her perfect role as a legal secretary – first with Chamberlain, Nash, Nash and Bean in Geneseo and later in Ohio and Arizona.

Pat loved music and almost always had something playing. She was an avid "trop rock" fan and attended many small house shows in Tucson, AZ and the surrounding area. It was at one of those performances by Mark Mulligan that Pat and Don were married.

Pat was an avid fan of the Chicago Bulls, the Chicago Bears, and Fighting Illini football and basketball teams. She loved cheering for her teams and sharing in the excitement of the games with family and friends. She enjoyed attending family tailgates and games whenever she could. She was a master with a crochet hook. Over her life having crocheted hundreds of her coveted kitchen washcloths and maybe just as many cozy afghan blankets. She loved to travel, including trips domestic and abroad. Some of her favorite trips were to the British Isles, Fiji, and cruises to Alaska and the Caribbean. She was a voracious reader and instilled that passion in her children at a young age. She adored her many canine companions over the years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Bob, and her former husband Ken. Pat is survived by her loving husband Don; her children, Susan (Doug) Byrum, Kris Stipp, and Todd (Gail) Johnson; grandchildren, Sandy (Mike) Minea, Jeff (Katie) Walker, Kirsten (Matt) Babecki, Kenny (Molly) Johnson, and Marlena Johnson; great-grandchildren, Makenzie, Wyatt and Jace Walker, Jack and Rachel Minea, and Phoebe Babecki; her nephew Rob Lievens and several other cousins, nieces and nephews.

Cremation rites have been accorded. In lieu of services, a celebration of Pat's life will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church in Moline, IL on November 22 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. All friends and family are invited to attend.

Despite a 14-year battle against cancer, Pat's life was marked by laughter, love, kindness, and devotion to her family. In remembrance, her preference would be a donation in her name to a cause she cared about rather than flowers. As her family we would suggest donations to your local Humane Society or Animal shelter, or the American Cancer Society.

The family would like to express our extreme gratitude to her medical providers at Carle Clinic and Hospital, her volunteer driver Julie from the American Cancer Society who will never pass by a Hershey bar again without thinking of her, the wonderful staff at Bridle Brook Assisted Living in Mahomet, IL who provided her care, comfort and community over the past year. Thank you as well to the compassionate care givers of Town Square Hospice who helped her and the family through her passing.

Pat will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her, our memories of her will keep her with us always.
