MILAN-Robert Eugene "Bob" Poe, 75, of Milan, IL, passed away Thursday, November 10, 2022, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, IA. Memorial services are 11am. Monday, November 21, 2022, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan. Visitation will be from 9:30am to 10:30am with a Masonic Service at 10:30am at the funeral home. Inurnment with military honors by the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 299 will be in Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island.
Bob was born in Kokomo, IN on August 3, 1947 and adopted shortly after by Homer and Juanita Poe. Bob graduated from Connersville High School in Connersville, IN in 1965 and joined the Air Force that summer at age 17 where he served in Vietnam. Later, he worked as a Special Agent for the Air Force Office of Special Investigations. He graduated from Black Hills State University in 1984. After graduation he became employed by the VA where he served as Director of these National Cemeteries: Black Hills (SD), Fort McPherson (NE), Fort Custer (MI), and Rock Island (IL). Bob has also served his community as a member of many organizations. Under the Free Masons, he served as a Master Mason and as Grand Master for many years in multiple locations. Other memberships he held were Shriners, York Rite, Scottish Rite, and Lions Club.
Bob is survived by his wife, Gail Ann; children, Robert Poe, Albuquerque, NM, Aaron Poe, Belleville, IL, and Rebecca (John) Dorsey, Houston TX; grandchildren AJ, Tylor, Monique, Anthony, Michael, and Aiden; great-grandchildren Liam and Lucas; sisters Pamela (Billy) Reece, Lisa Koohns, Beth (Jim) Croucher, Connersville, IN; and half-brother Richard (Barbara) Rider, Marrion, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and previous wife, Teresa Jones Poe.

Gail, I´m so sorry for the loss of your husband. Your mom and my mom Arlene Eckhart Bolis were good friends. They went to school together and did tons of horse back riding. I heard tons of great stories. Thinking of you and your family during this difficult time.
