Ronald Thomas "Ron" Vershaw, 86, of Moline, passed away Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at Clarissa Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, IA.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at Christ the King Church, Moline. Visitation will be 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. Monday at Rafferty Funeral Home, 2111-1st St A, Moline. Burial will be at Moline Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials can be made to University of Iowa Cancer Center.
Ron was born September 15, 1937, in Moline, the son of Thomas "Tim" and Ida (Bomelyn) Vershaw. He married Marlene Kolarik on July 31, 1965, in Moline.
Ron earned his Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from St. Ambrose College, Davenport, IA. Ron began his accounting career at Montgomery Elevator Company. He then went to work at John Deere Spreader Works, John Deere Harvester Works and then to Deere and Company Corporate Offices where he retired as a Senior Tax Accountant with 35 years of service in 2001.
Ron was a charter member of Christ the King Church where he volunteered as an usher. He was also a member of Catholic Order of Foresters and National Association of Accountants. He enjoyed coaching his sons in their early years in baseball and basketball. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and attending their activities. He was the best Papa in the world.
Survivors include his wife, Marlene; sons: Tim (Julie) Vershaw, Moline, and Todd (Sharon) Vershaw, Long Grove, IA; grandchildren: Michael Vershaw, Nicole Vershaw, Emily Vershaw, and Anna Vershaw; and sister, Carole (Jim) Driessens, Moline. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter.
