Sammy DeMeyer Obituary
Sammy L. "Sam" DeMeyer, 82, of Milan, passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at Unity Point, Rock Island.
A Celebration of Life for Sam and Sharon will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 15, 2026, at Oakwood Country Club, Coal Valley. Inurnment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.
Sam was born January 19, 1944, in Moline, the son of Leon A. and Marie E. (Wood) DeMeyer. He married Sharon A. Seibert on October 1, 1966, in Bettendorf, Iowa. She preceded him in death on December 23, 2023.
Sam retired in 2001 from the former Moline Consumers after 34 years. He enjoyed coin collecting, hunting, fishing and visiting friends at the casino. But most of all he loved attending his grandchildren's events.
Survivors include his children, Stephanie (Jay) Irwin, Taylor Ridge, Ill. and Scott (Holly) DeMeyer, Rock Island; grandchildren, Logan (Jesse) Goetz-Irwin, Grace (Noah) Grems, Trey (Kallie) DeMeyer, Hunter DeMeyer, and Cassidy DeMeyer, Jacob (Liz) Irwin, Tyler (Laura) Irwin, Michael Corsiglia and Alexandra Anderson; great-grandchildren, T.J., Oakley, Jack, Colin, Carter and Versai; sister, Sally Swanson, Bettendorf and brother, Donald (Kay) DeMeyer, Rock Island. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Crystal Nelson and Diane Ortscheid.

What fun we had in the neighborhood. Especially when the snow fell. Sliding down the semi circular drainage tile packed with snow in our saucer sleds. Condolences to the family including Sally and Don.
