Thomas Wiley Obituary
February 22, 1939 - November 3, 2025
Thomas M. Wiley, 86, of Cambridge, Ill., passed away peacefully on Monday, November 3, 2025, in New Palestine, Ind. Born in Rock Island, Ill., on February 22, 1939, Tom was known for his gentle spirit, kind heart, and great sense of humor. He was a man who was always helping others and, above all, deeply loved his family.
Tom spent his early years attending Pleasant Valley Country School and Cambridge Grade School, and he graduated from Cambridge High School. After high school, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from January 1958 through December 1960. He was stationed in Neuenberg, Germany, where he served as a company clerk.
His professional career began at IH Farmall Rock Island, Ill., and he later transferred to Springfield, Ohio, where he retired on March 28, 1991. Tom pursued his passions for hunting, playing picks, farming, motorcycles, hotrods, and gardening. He was a faithful worshiper at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Cambridge.
Tom is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia Wiley, and their loving family. He was a devoted father to his daughter, Tresa Burrell, and son, Thomas J. Wiley. He will be deeply missed by his son-in-law, James Burrell, and his grandchildren: Cody, Selena, Maxwell, Tristan, Thomas (deceased), Michael, Lexi, and Ashley. He also leaves behind numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He is also survived by his sister, Pat Klemmer, and her husband, Dick Klemmer.
Tom was preceded in death by his sister, Bonnie Wiley; his parents, Thomas V. Wiley and Gladys J. (Mayne) Wiley; and his grandson, Thomas.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. John Vianney Catholic Church. Calling hours will begin at 10 a.m., followed by the Mass at 11 a.m. on Nov. 29th (Saturday). Military rites will be given at the church following the Mass. A luncheon will be held in the St. John Vianney Catholic Church Hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Cambridge School System Free Lunches or to St. Jude's Research Center.
