Ulysses S. Walker, of Davenport, IA, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2022, at ProMedica Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation (ManorCare), Utica Ridge Road, Davenport, IA.
Services will be held at Progressive Baptist Church, 1302 East 12th Street, Davenport, IA on Saturday, May 21, 2022. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to time of service at 11:00 a.m. Internment will be at Pine Hill Cemetery.
Orr's Mortuary, Rock Island is assisting the family with arrangements.
Ulysses (Buddy) Walker was born April 1, 1927, in Moro, AR, to Joe and Betty Walker. He attended school in Moro, AR. He moved to Davenport, IA in 1953. He married Clairice Christopher on February 4, 1956. At his passing, they were married 66 years.
Buddy was employed for 29 ½ years at Martin Marietta Corporation, retiring in 1982. Buddy was also owner of UW Production, bringing various entertainers and artist to perform in the Quad Cities. Some of the artist included Tina Turner, BB King, the Temptations, Lawrence Welk Band and the Spinners.
Buddy enjoyed listening to music, Gospel and Blues, gardening, watching baseball and fine cuisine.
Those left to cherish Ulysses' memory include his wife, Clairice; sister, Thelma Mason of Chicago, IL; sons, Arnold and Melvin Walker, Davenport, IA, Melvin Odell (Rosie) Woods, Milan, IL; grandchildren, Carey (Sheri) Robinson, Laguna Niguel, CA, Denisa (Kevin) McReynolds, O'Fallon, IL; great grandchildren, Kyla McReynolds, Mia Nicole and Dante Robinson; Goddaughter, Belitha Harris; special cousin, Merlyn Polite and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Ulysses was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Curtis and Wesley; sister, A.T. and daughter, Debbie Hickman.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Progressive Baptist Church.
The family thanks the staff at ProMedica Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation (ManorCare) for the care given to Ulysses.
