Gladys Adcock Obituary

Gladys Virginia Rodewald Adcock passed away Sunday, November 11, 2018, surrounded by her loved ones in her home at the age of 93. Gladys was born July 1, 1925, in Logan NM to Gust Henry and Ella Brand Rodewald.
Gladys graduated from Logan High School in 1944 as the valedictorian of her class. Following graduation, Gladys worked at Fitzner's Grocery Store in Logan. Later she began her employment with McFarland Brothers Bank, where she worked for several years. In 1951 she married Billy Richard Adcock and they made their home in Tucumcari. Together they were successful business owners of Adcock's 66 Service for 38 years. As a team they were known for their hard work ethic, honesty and integrity. They raised two daughters, Martha Louise and Elizabeth Ann. In 1991, Gladys was blessed with a grandson, Chase Brandt Waters, who was the apple of her eye. Gladys was an avid gardener, and always had a bountiful vegetable garden and beautiful flower beds filled with roses, dahlias, lilies, irises and a host of colorful annuals she loved to plant each Spring. Home is where Gladys always loved to be. Throughout her childhood and as long as her parents were living, she enjoyed spending her time at the ranch where she was raised. As a wife, mother and grandmother, her home was the most important place in her life where she spent her time caring for her beautiful yard, and preparing delicious meals for her family and friends. Gladys was always known as a wonderful cook, and Sunday dinner was a family tradition her entire life. She was blessed to remain in her home throughout her life. She was a member of Center Street United Methodist Church. She will be missed by all who loved her.
Gladys is survived by her daughters, Martha Waters of Tucumcari and her son Chase Waters of Amarillo, TX; Liz Estrada and husband Paul, of Tucumcari, and their son Noah and grandchildren Blake and Rebekah. She is also survived by numerous cherished nieces and nephews, cousins, brother and sisters in-law, as well as a host of treasured friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Bill; her parents, Gus & Ella; her sister JoAnn June, as a child; and her sister Viola Eleanor White and husband Charlie White.
The family wishes to thank all those who graciously assisted Martha and Liz in caring for Gladys over the many years.
Services to celebrate her life will be Thursday, November 15, 2018 at 2 PM at the Center Street United Methodist Church, 406 E. Center Street, with Pastor Fred Caton officiating. Internment will follow at the Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pall Bearers will be James Rierson, Terry Adcock, James Trousdale, Mike Loudder, Gary Don Cooper, and Cole Cooper.
Arrangements were entrusted to Dunn Funeral Home, 575-461-3815.
