Betty Keyoth Obituary

Betty Keyoth

December 23, 1931 - August 15, 2025

Betty died peacefully at her home on Puget Sound, on August 15, 2025. Betty enjoyed the last four years in Washington State with her daughter and grandsons. Having survived breast cancer, melanoma, and a stroke, she continued to inspire all to "Just keep moving", until congestive heart failure. Per her wishes she insisted on a Green Burial and that no services be held.

Betty was born December 23, 1931, in San Francisco, CA, to Samuel and Averil (Sullivan) Alexander. Betty was united in marriage to James Keyoth on May 7, 1955, in Sacramento, CA, and shortly after relocated to Bettendorf. She graduated from Marycrest College in 1972 and taught at Virgil Grissom Elementary in Princeton, IA.

She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Betty enjoyed listening to jazz, opera, hiking, biking, reading, kayaking, rollerblading, and spending time in the garden. She liked to travel and went on many trips with family and friends. Before relocating to WA, Betty would often be spotted early mornings with her Bettendorf walkers or get together with former teaching staff. In her mid-80s, she successfully climbed the Grand Canyon!

Survivors include son, Dan Keyoth, Arlington, TX; daughter, Diane Keyoth Woodbury, Lakewood, WA; son, Jon Keyoth, Bettendorf, IA; grandchildren, Alex (Lance) Keyoth Patterson, Castle Pines, CO; Nicole (Ian) Keyoth Hollinger, Grapevine, TX, Kevin Woodbury, University Place, WA, and Brian (Elena) Woodbury, Woodinville, WA; great-grandchildren, Tristan and Camden Patterson, and Connor and Charlie Hollinger; nieces, Joy Girot Williams, Connie Girot Huston, Jill Keyoth Murphy; and nephews, Todd, Lane, and Scott Keyoth. She was preceded in death by her parents and nephew, Richard (Guy) Girot.
