DAVENPORT-Charles D. Madden, 92, of Davenport, IA, passed away at his home on Wednesday, January 12, 2022. A private family service will be held. He will be laid to rest in Davenport Memorial Park. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com.
Charles was born February 27, 1929, to John and Violet (Cook) Madden in Princeton, Indiana. He served in the Navy for four years during the Korean War. He was united in marriage to Aldora DeFreitas on November 1, 1952 in Trinidad. He worked as a Gas Journeyman for Iowa/Illinois Gas & Electric Company until his retirement in 1991.
Charles was a wonderful man, husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed many things including traveling, fishing and camping.
Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife, Aldora Madden; three daughters, Vicki (Skip) Schlue, Davenport, Diane (Dick) Shaffer, Davenport, and Kim (Tom) Smith, Rock Island; grandchildren: Johnathan (Veronica) Schlue, Audrey Schlue, Timothy (Mandy) Shaffer, Sarah (Michael) Ruiz, and Tommy Smith; and 7 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Wilma and Shirley.

I am so sorry to hear about Chuck. He was such a nice cousin. Always had a smile and ready to talk. I remember aunt Vi Telling me about when he went into the service. He was 17 and wanted her to sign for him to be able to go into the Navy. Aunt Vi told him she would sign, if he promised her he would not get a tattoo. He kept his promise. He was a good son. Sending prayers and love to all of you.
