Clifford was born on July 17, 1937, at Mercy Hospital in Davenport, Iowa. Cliff was the son of Orville Vernon and Dorothea Katherina (Bostelman) Schroder. He graduated from Davenport High School in 1955. Cliff then enlisted into the Army, where he proudly served his country. Cliff grew up on a farm where he continued to farm in his early adult years. He had a great love for, and collection of, John Deere. He then worked as maintenance for many years at Coca-Cola in Davenport, Iowa, Camp Io-Dis-E-Ca in Solon, Iowa, and Barkers Apartments in Iowa City, Iowa, retiring at the age of 83 years old in 2020.
Cliff was united in marriage to Peggy Schumacher on February 15, 1964, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Davenport, Iowa. Cliff took great pride in making sure he was going to be there to take care of his family, so he walked three miles, did 100 sit-ups, and rode his stationary bike during television commercial breaks daily. He loved his church and listening to Christian Hymns. Cliff could be found tinkering with anything that he perceived needed to be fixed. He would do anything for anyone, including helping and supporting his loving wife Peggy with her many endeavors. Cliff loved being outdoors and within nature, including watching a great sunset and sunrise.
Cliff's family includes wife of 61 years, Peggy of Coralville; daughters, Pam (John McVey) Lam of Coralville and Diane (Andy) Hamer of Iowa City; grandchildren, Andy Hamer, Joe (Alex Kertels) Lam, Jessica (Luke) Haverkamp; great-grandchildren, Joelle and Nathan Haverkamp; sisters, Aletha Voges and Rhoda (John) Weinbach; sister-in-law, Karen Schroder; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Orville and Dorothea Schroder; brother, Howard Schroder; and brother-in-law Ethan Voges.
