Funeral services for Donald C. Evans, 79, of Maricopa, Ariz., will be held 10:30 a.m., on Friday, November 7th, at St. James Lutheran Church, Bettendorf. Burial will follow at the Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island, Ill., where military rites will be conducted by the Moline American Legion Post 246. Family will greet friends on Thursday, November 6th, from 4 to 7 p.m., at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf.
Donald passed away on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at Stone Creek of Flying Horse in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Donald was born on December 24, 1945, in Moline, Ill., the son of Carlisle and Barbara (Haney) Evans. He graduated from Rock Island High School in 1963 and served in the U.S. Navy from 1966 to 1969. Donald married Nancy Lynn TouVelle at St. James Lutheran Church, Bettendorf, on October 14, 1972. She preceded him in death on October 14, 2019, after 47 wonderful years together.
Donald was an avid sports fan and supporter of Bettendorf athletics serving as the Bettendorf Wrestling Club President for more than a decade. Additionally, he volunteered on the football sidelines, at the wrestling table, umpired fast pitch softball, and refereed youth soccer for more than 40 years. Nancy and Don were awarded Bettendorf Football's Most Loyal Fans in 2009.
Survivors include his children, Justin Evans (Katie) of Monument, Colo., Jason Evans of Bettendorf, Iowa and Jared Evans (Elissa) of Rochester, Minn.; his grandchildren, Kain Evans (Tatiana), Aiden Evans, Alyssa Evans, Tenley Evans, Garrett Evans and Oliver Evans; his great-grandchildren, Carter Evans, Amelia Evans, Roanin Evans, and Ridge Evans; sister, Christine Evans-Peck (Dennis) of Geneseo, Ill.; brother, Ken Evans (Karen) of Santa Fe, N.M.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Nancy.
Memorials may be directed to The Nancy Evans Memorial Scholarship at the Bettendorf Family Museum.
