Eldon Housley Obituary
June 1, 1939 - June 2, 2025
Eldon Lee Housley, of Haslet, Texas, formerly of Davenport, Iowa, passed away on Monday, June 2, 2025, at the age of 86. He was born on June 1, 1939, in Davenport, Iowa. Eldon graduated from Davenport High School in 1958 and proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1959 to 1963. Following his service, he earned a sanitation certificate from Purdue University and a HazMat certification from Scott Community College.
Eldon had a long and accomplished career in management at Ralston Purina in Davenport, where he eventually retired.
A man of many passions, Eldon was actively involved in competitive racquetball, golfing, and long-distance bicycling. He also enjoyed flower gardening, painting, and collecting model airplanes. His immaculate yard earned him recognition from VanderVeer Park, a testament to the care and pride he took in his home and hobbies.
Eldon was the last surviving sibling of nine children.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Joyce Anne (Kelsey) Housley, and their four children and spouses: Douglas Lee Housley (Connie), Steven Duane Housley (Ruth), John Stanford Housley, and Jane Kathleen Gifford (Darrell). He was the proud grandfather to ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Eldon will be fondly remembered for his quick wit, sense of humor, and warm personality. For 20 years, he brought joy to families by playing Santa Claus during the holiday season. From his love of ketchup and Diet Coke to his perfectly manicured yard, Eldon's life was filled with unique and memorable qualities that touched everyone who knew him.
A celebration of life will take place on October 11th, 2025, in Davenport, Iowa.

Your voice struck fear in us back in the day, will certainly never forget it. Thanks for modeling what a strong, fair, and loving father looked like, it impacted more then your own kids.
