Elizabeth Niemann Obituary

Elizabeth Niemann

October 9, 1933 - September 2, 2025

Elizabeth Martha (Schnack) Niemann, age 91, entered into eternal rest while surrounded by family on September 2nd, 2025 at Fieldstone in DeWitt, Iowa.

Elizabeth (Liz) was born on October 9th, 1933 in Clinton, Iowa to John Peter and Elsie Lena (Schröder) Schnack. She was a 1952 graduate of DeWitt High School. Liz was united in marriage to her lifetime love, Roland Niemann, at Grace Lutheran Church in DeWitt, Iowa on November 16th, 1952, by the Rev. Theodore Hinck. Liz found great fulfillment and pride in her life's work as a farm wife and homemaker. She was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher, and member of the Elizabeth Circle.

Her family was her greatest legacy. She took immense pride in raising her three children, Steven Douglas, Wade Roland, and Debra Sue on their family farm. She deeply cherished her eleven "equally favorite" grandchildren and twenty-two wonderful great-grandchildren. This family was her joy, her devotion, and the heart of her life's work. Her presence shaped them all in ways that will forever remain part of who they are. In every story shared and every tradition carried on, her spirit will be felt. Her faith never wavered, and she leaned on God's strength to weather life's great sorrows and treasure life's countless joys.

Liz is survived by one son, Wade and his wife Patricia Niemann; grandchildren, Luke and wife Lanna Niemann, Joshua and wife Kassi Dahl, Matthew and wife Erin Niemann, Lance Dahl, Elizabeth (Beth) and husband Jared Scheckel, Christina and husband Michael Walter, Alisha and husband Aaron Krogman, Ali and husband Dustin BeGuhn, Michael Niemann, Lena Niemann, and Ben and wife Emily Niemann; great-grandchildren, Patrick, June, Cole, Alyssa, Marcus, Josie, Callie, Piper, Mae, Maverick, Levi, William, Brigham, Maddox, Jacob, Priya, Hudson, Callahan, Beau, Audie, Graham, and Blaire; one brother, John Schnack and many loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roland, who died exactly four years prior on September 2, 2021, her daughter, Debra Dahl (2005), and her son and daughter-in-law, Steven and wife Ann Niemann (both in 2019), her parents, and siblings, Dorothy Bean and Guenther Schnack.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the service time of 11 a.m. Friday, September 5, 2025, at Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt, the Rev. John Dolde officiating. A luncheon will be served in the church basement after the service. Private burial will follow at Clinton Lawn Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be all six grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be all five granddaughters.

The family is thankful to so many for the love they showed during Liz's last years on this earth. Their gratitude extends to family friend, Melissa Schepers, for her unwavering care and treasured friendship to Liz, to the nursing staff at Fieldstone and Genesis Hospice, for caring for her with great dignity and compassion, and to St. Joseph Catholic School and Central Intermediate School students for the constant kindness and prayers she received through letters and visits.
