Evelyn R. Mohr, 87, of Davenport, IA, formerly of Clinton, IA, died peacefully on October 29, 2023, at Ridegecrest Village in Davenport.
A hospitality gathering to celebrate Evelyn's life is 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2024, at CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe (Lower level) 701 12th Street, Moline. The family invites family and friends to dress causal or in your favorite travel attire. Memorials may be made to UnityPoint Hospice or Alzheimer's Association.
Evelyn Rae Batchelder was born July 30, 1936, in Jones County, IA, to Raymond and Marcella (Murfield) Batchelder. She married Lloyd Mohr in May 1968. He died April 15, 2006.
She graduated from Olin High School, IA, Wesleyan College, and Marycrest College. Evelyn taught sixth grade in the Clinton school system for twenty-five years.
Evelyn was a world traveler and was very athletic, playing 6 on 6 basketball in her younger years and golfing in more recent years. She was an avid reader and excellent bridge player. Above all else, family was the most important thing to Evelyn, and she will always be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Evelyn is survived by three adult children: Marcy Schlotfelt of Cedar Rapids, IA, Marty Jo Denicus of Davenport, and Kyle (Lisa Farrar) Schlotfelt of Arizona; two grandchildren: Rachel (Tony Hoffman) Denicus of Cedar Falls, IA, and Jenna Denicus of Davenport; her beloved great-granddaughter, Hazel Jo Hoffman; and siblings: Gail (Brasso) Federick, Nancy Derynck, and Lori Harris. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son-in-law, Robert F. Denicus.
The family would like to thank the memory care staff at Ridgecrest Village and UnityPoint Hospice for their exceptional care, kindness, and compassion in Evelyn's final year.
