July 14, 1940 - February 16, 2025

Hazel E. Smith, 84, of Davenport Iowa passed away on February 16, 2025.

Visitation will be held on Friday February 21, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Runge Mortuary and Crematory. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, in the Runge Mortuary chapel at 10 a.m. Memorials may be made in Hazel's name to the Moline Church of Christ. Online condolences may be made at www.rungemortuary.com.

Hazel was born on July 14, 1940, in Springfield Illinois to Kenneth and Ester (Applegate) Jones. On September 20, 1961, she was united in marriage to Virgil H. Smith in Davenport Iowa. They enjoyed 50 years of marriage until his passing in 2011. Hazel was a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan, enjoyed playing Farkle with her sisters and brother-in-laws, socializing with her customers at Hy-Vee and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Moline Church of Christ. She enjoyed the fellowship and spiritual guidance she had there.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Barry (Nicole) Smith, Roxanna (Jerry) Bernauer, Vince (Monica) Smith; grandchildren, Aaron, A.J., Zach, Daniel, Lucas, Jacob, Lisa, Donald, Evan, Jamey; great-grandchildren, Eira, Eli; sisters, Marilyn, Carol, Elaine, Arlene and many nieces and nephews.

Hazel is preceded in death by her parents; her husband and brother, Earl.

Dear family, my deepest sympathy in your loss. Hazel was such a joy. We had many conversations at HyVee when she was working. Always made sure I tried the samples she was offering that day. A very special lady!!! I will miss her.

I absolutely loved Hazel I worked with her at Hyvee 5 years ago and she always put a smile on my face ..sometimes cracked me up..when I stopped working there I always shopped at Hyvee just to see her..soon as I would see her I would stop and talk to her ..sometimes for get why I had to get ..I loved her and always told her she was the best she said well thank you sweetie . R.I.P. my Dear Sweet Hazel ..I love you dearly. I Will Miss You So much as I know you will be missed by so very many.
