Joe Yoke

February 18, 1949 - July 15, 2024

Joe Yoke, 75, of Buffalo, passed away Monday, July 15, 2024, at his home. Per his request, cremation will be accorded, and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 26, 2024, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Davenport. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Inurnment will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to the church or Alamo Palms Scholarship Fund.

Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport, is assisting the family.

Joseph Lawrence Yoke was born February 18, 1949, in Davenport, a son of Ross and Regina (Duffy) Yoke. He was united in marriage to Linda "Annie" (Droste) Van Damme on October 2, 2021.

Prior to his retirement in 2014, Joe had worked as a tool and die maker for Caterpillar for 24 years and Hon for 16 years.

He enjoyed trout fishing (especially at Backbone State Park), playing euchre, sailing, and taking care of his aquarium. When family or friends needed help with a project or something fixed, Joe was always ready to lend a helping hand. He and Linda were snowbirds wintering in Alamo Palms, TX.

He was a member of the Rock Island Moose, Moline Senior Center, and lifetime member of St. Alphonsus.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Linda; daughters: Michele (Tony) Browne, Davenport, Amie Rogers, Rock Island; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five stepchildren; siblings: Jean (Leo) Maher, Grand Mound, Alice (Jim) Ellison, Bettendorf, Raymond (Chris) Yoke, Park View, John Robert (Gloria) Yoke, Davenport, Cecilia Laake, Davenport, Gloria (Al) Longmeir, Davenport; many nieces and nephews; and his dogs: Jake and Gracie.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and special friend, Henrietta Anast.

I am so sorry for your loss and to hear of Joe's passing. I waned to tell you that he was a great cather. I threw Him a baseball on the fly in the district championship game when we were 11-12 years old and, and he tagged the opposing playing out at the plate, and we went on to win the championship.
