Lynn was born on March 10, 1948, in Davenport, to Milo and Hazel Stellrecht. In the fifth grade, Lynn met the love of her life, Dan Murphy. Together they shared a beautiful life of 53 years. Lynn worked as a cosmetologist for five years. She worked as an ammunition specialist for the Department of the Army at the Rock Island Arsenal, retiring in 2011. Lynn and her husband raised and showed Whippet's. She had a love for animals and showing dogs across the states. She also enjoyed bowling and following politics. She was very proud of her country and her service to the men and women of the armed forces. Through their weekend travels, Lynn and Dan would find new restaurants to try. She enjoyed dining out with her husband.
