After passing her state board exams, she received her Registered Nurse certification.
On January 4, 1948, Marjorie was united in marriage to Dr. Barney B. Prestridge, and together they established a medical clinic in Donna, Texas. Following Barney's passing in 1953, she returned to Cedar Rapids and served as Assistant Director of Nursing Service at St. Luke's Hospital from 1953 to 1958.
On November 27, 1958, Marjorie married The Rev. Kenneth J. Harden at the Oxford Junction Methodist Church, where he was serving as pastor. Their ministry together led them to serve churches in Chapin and Aredale, and later in Somers and Farmhamville, Iowa. When Ken joined the Presbyterian ministry, they moved to Dubuque, where Marjorie worked at Finley Hospital while Ken attended the Presbyterian Seminary.
In 1967, they moved to Lee County, Iowa, where they faithfully served the Sharon, West Point, and Mt. Hamill Presbyterian Churches until Ken's retirement in 1989. They then made their home at the Masonic Village in Bettendorf.
In addition to her husbands, Marjorie was preceded in death by an infant daughter; her sister, Dorothy Nabb; her brothers, David and James Clapp; and an infant brother.
