July 6, 1928 - December 23, 2024

Melvin Rex Bauguess, 96, of Davenport, Iowa passed away Monday, December 23, 2024, with his family by his side. Funeral services to honor his memory will be held on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at 11 a.m. at New Hope Presbyterian Church; visitation will be before the service starting at 9 a.m. Burial will be following the service at Fairmount Cemetery. Memorials in Melvin's name may be made to New Hope Presbyterian Church or to King's Harvest Animal Rescue.

Melvin was born on July 6, 1928, to Ralph and Darlene Bauguess in New Boston, Ill. He served with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Melvin was united in marriage to Helen Zentner on July 24, 1949; she passed away on October 6, 1990. He later married Lillian Wildeboer on June 13, 1993; she passed away December 5, 2007. Melvin married Sylvia (Ashton) Seymour on September 1, 2018. He worked at Alcoa as a Rolling Mill Operator for over 35 years; retiring in 1990. Melvin was an active member of the New Hope Presbyterian Church. He was a member of Davenport Masonic Lodge for over 50 years; a life long member of the Walcott American Legion and the Davenport VFW. Melvin enjoyed traveling, reading, doing word search puzzles, woodworking, watching the Iowa Hawkeye Men's Basketball team; spending time with his dogs, Inky and Beano; but most of all he loved his children and grandchildren.

Those left to honor his memory are his wife, Sylvia; his daughter, Barbara Anderson; son, William (Julie) Bauguess; grandchildren, Kate (Kelly) Serrano, Matthew (Erica) Anderson, Cody Bauguess, and Mackenzie Bauguess; great-grandchildren, Caiden and Gracie Bauguess and Blair Anderson; along with Sylvia's children, Nancy Carlisle, Lucie Bavers, Lynne Kirkman, Valerie Volquardsen, and Kathy Kephart.

He was preceded in death by his first two wives, Helen and Lillian; his brother, Laverne Bauguess; and his parents, Ralph and Darlene.
