Mildred R. (Millie) Smutzer

Mildred R. (Millie) Smutzer, 98, died Monday, August 29, 2022 at the Kahl Home, Davenport. Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, September 3, 2022 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Davenport. Visitation will be from 9:00 am until service time. Burial will be at Oakdale Memorial Gardens, Davenport.
Mildred Cloud was born February 25, 1924 in Montrose, IA to John and Lillian (Murphy) Cloud. She attended Catholic Central High School in Fort Madison, IA. Following high school, she worked at Shaeffer Pen Company, where she met her future husband, Louie.
She married Louis (Louie) Smutzer on June 19, 1948 in Fort Madison IA. He preceded her in death August 7, 1995.
Millie worked at Davenport Bank for 20 years, retiring June 1, 1990. Following retirement, she enjoyed playing cards and volunteered at St. Anthony's parish, the Mc Anthony window and the Read To Me program at Madison Elementary School.
She was a member of the St. Patrick Society of the Quad Cities, the Altar and Rosary Society of St. Anthony and the Daughter's of Isabella. Millie was proud of her Irish heritage and was honored to be Irish Mother of the Year in 1995.
Millie was preceded in death by her husband, Louie, and by her siblings: Laveda (William) Auge, Leona (Robert) Krogmeier, Joseph (Julie) Cloud, Marie Kern, James (Patricia) Cloud and John (Dorothy) Cloud.
Left to honor her memory include her children, William (Jana) Smutzer of Wentzville MO, Lynne Wamsley (Jerry LaBonne) of Davenport IA, and Michael (Mary Anne) Smutzer of Davenport IA. Also surviving Millie are her grandchildren, Shannon (Jason) Hall, Tera (Scott) Impens, and Megan Smutzer (Jason Kalkman), and her great grandchildren, Abigail, Zachary, Nathan and Katherine.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital, Assumption High School, or St. Anthony's McAnthony's window.
The family would like to thank the Kahl Home staff for all the love and care they provided Millie.
