Randy Winters Obituary

Randy Winters

April 4, 1952 - September 13, 2024

Randy Allen Winters, 72, of Davenport, IA, passed away on September 13, 2024 at Trinity Medical Center in Rock Island. Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. The family will hold a private gathering in his remembrance at a later date. Please consider donating to any local youth bowling groups in his memory. Randy was born on April 4, 1952 in Davenport, IA to parents Norma (Pflum) and Richard Winters. When Randy was young, his father passed away and his mother later found love once more. Randy gained a loving step-father, John True, along with additional siblings. After attending Central High School, Randy joined the Navy. Upon his discharge from the Navy, he travelled working a variety of jobs. Eventually, he settled into a career with Per Mar, working as a Fire System Inspector for 20 years.

On September 9, 1978, Randy married Suzanne "Sue" (Erickson). Together, they spent over 46 years in each other's company and welcomed two beloved daughters into the world. Randy's love grew even more with the eventual addition of grandchildren. He adored spending time with them whenever possible. In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling and spent many years of his life coaching youth teams. Throughout his life, he also enjoyed photography and painting, and drawing.

Randy's love continues on in those who knew him. Those left to carry on his memory include his wife, Sue Winters; daughters, Alaina (Matthew) Blaum, Brittany Winters; grandchildren, Emma Blaum, Zoë Blaum, Jack Blaum; brothers, Rodney (Anna) Winters, John (Elizabeth) True III; and sisters, Rebecca (Jim) Dirksen, Ruth True-Mullen, and Ericka True.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents and his step-father.

I believe that Randy was a classmate at Trinity Lutheran School. My father and I would pick Randy up on our way to our Cub Scout den meetings and then take him home afterwards.
As I recall Randy was good at tap dancing at that time.
I don´t believe I have seen Randy since 1966. You have my condolences. He was a good friend.

My sympathy to the Winters family after the passing of Randy.

I was fortunate to work 3rd shift with Randy at Walmart for several years. I always enjoyed hearing his PerMar stories and really respected his love and dedication for his youth bowling teams.

He was a very hard working man who always insisted on doing things the right way, without cutting corners. He was respected and liked for how he carried himself.
