DAVENPORT-A memorial gathering to celebrate the life of Robert L. Danico will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at the Davenport Knights of Columbus. A private family funeral service and burial will be held at a later date at the Rock Island Arsenal National Cemetery. Mr. Danico died on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.
Robert Lee Danico was born on December 13, 1932 in Davenport, IA. On May 31, 1974 he married Jane E. Dahlin here in Davenport. She preceded him in death in October of 2011. After studying at Iowa State University and always being interested in electronics and broadcasting, he began work at the former WOC TV station where he served for 34 years as the TV director, production operator, promotion manager, weather announcer and director for 34 years. He was a long time HAM radio operator, an avid boater and a member of the United States Coast Guard Auxilary. He was also a drummer in the CASI Band, a member of the Shrine and also a Mason. Bob served as an adjunct professor at the Former Marycrest College, was a longtime Bix Biderbeck festival volunteer, and was active in local theater for many years.
Surviving members of his family include - a Daughter: Andrea (Curt) Conner of Bettendorf; and a Son: Tim Wernentin of Rock Island; 7 Grandchildren and 2 Great-Granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Jane.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital.

Bob Danico, always a class act. Bob was fun, funny. A talented actor,TV Host, Director/Producer. A broadcaster that wore a lot of the hats and they all fit just fine. Bob was a great boss and became a great friend as well. Good life and good shows my friend. Get some rest...that's a wrap.

RIP Bob,
He was my dads best friend ( Robert F. Brown - WOC Meterologist) He went with my Dad and I to the Miss Iowa pageants, Press Clubs. A true gentleman who was one of only two to be able to call me Suzy my whole life.
