DAVENPORT-Sandra K. "Sandy" McDermott, 73, of Davenport, died Saturday, May 20, 2023 surrounded by family at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf following a brief battle with cancer.
A time to gather and celebrate Sandy's life will be held from 5 until 8 on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at the Renwick Mansion, Davenport. Keeping with her wishes, Sandy donated her body to science through the Deeded Body Program at the University of Iowa. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made to Dravet Syndrome or King's Harvest Pet Rescue.
Sandra Kay Schubert was born on September 22, 1949 in Clinton, Iowa, a daughter of Donald and Fern (Claussen) Schubert. She graduated from Franciscan School of Radiology in Moline and enjoyed a 22-year career with Genesis Medical Center as an X-Ray Technician retiring in 2012.
Sandy married Ordean McDermott. They had two sons, Brad and Randy.
Sandy loved dogs, she would raise and breed Vizsla and Kuvasz dogs. She also loved her family, especially her grandchildren.
Sandy is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Bradley (Tina) McDermott, Davenport, and Randy (Charity) McDermott, Bettendorf; grandchildren: Travis (Carly) Keeney, Jacob Walker, Bradley W. (Kayla) McDermott, Jr., Morgan (Michael Womack) McDermott, Shawn (Bailey Morris) McDermott, Cameron Sturtevant, Caden, Cali, and Kenedi McDermott; great-grandchildren: Sadie, Paizley, Maverick, Palmer Jo, and Elena; siblings: Ray (Susi) Schubert, Farmington, Missouri, Keith (Susie) Schubert, and Marla (David) Conkey, Clinton, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Ryan McDermott.
The McDermott family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House and family caregivers, Marla and Beth for all of their loving and compassionate care.
