Sybil McCombs Obituary
April 24, 1948 - September 30, 2024
Sybil Lorraine (Moore) McCombs (76) passed peacefully into heaven on September 30, 2024, at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Frances (Myers) Moore of Keokuk, Iowa, her son Darin, and special "son" Chad Tatge.
Sybil is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Wayne McCombs, Edwards, Missouri; daughters Lara McCombs and partner, Michael Newham of Norborne, Missouri; Natalie Sereda and husband, Paul of Coal Valley, Illinois; grandsons Beau Hamerlinck of Edwards, Missouri, Darin Arnold of Alpha, Illinois, Mason Sereda of Bettendorf, Iowa, Karson Gustafson of Annawan, Illinois, and Braden Cerra; granddaughters Sydney Cerra, and Grear Gustafson of Annawan, Illinois.
Sybil grew up in Keokuk, Iowa. Fyre Lake at Sherrard, Illinois was her home for many years. She enjoyed the community and loved to watch her kids go boating and water skiing on the beautiful lake. She volunteering on the Sherrard Ambulance Service as a daytime EMT for many years and co-organized their first of many soup supper fundraiser. Sybil loved her horses and her border collies and instilled this love with her children and grandchildren.
Sybil loved to travel. Her most recent trip was a cruise to Central America and the Panama Canal stopping at Cozumel where she checked her bucket list when she swam with the dolphins. She cherished living on her small farm outside Climax Springs, Missouri for the last 8 years.
A Celebration of Life is planned at the United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, Preemption, Illinois on October 24th at 5:00 p.m. Before the celebration on the 24th, Sybil will be laid to rest by her family and friends at 4 p.m. next to her son Darin in the Sherrard, Illinois cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the Preemption United Methodist Church or to the family.

To my mother in heaven, thank you for always loving me and guiding me. Even though you are no longer here with me I can still feel your love guiding me. You are always in my heart. I love you and miss you dearly.

Prayers for Wayne Natalie and Lara. Sybil will be held in heard as a cherished long time friend. And remembered for the good that she brought with her strong will and sense of humor. She will be missed more than words can convey but remembered and loved for the times she gave to those she loved. May the things she brought to each person and heartfelt cause continue as a living memorial.
