Dr. Vincent "Jerry" Glowacki
September 25, 1931 - April 1, 2024
A Memorial Mass for Dr. Vincent "Jerry" Glowacki, 92, will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 17, 2024, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass at church. Inurnment will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Memorials may be made to Assumption High School.
Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Dr. Glowacki died Monday, April 1, 2024, at Edgewater Senior Living, West Des Moines.
Vincent Jerome Glowacki was born on September 25, 1931, in Davenport, son of Vincent J. and Marie (Schier) Glowacki. After graduating from St. Ambrose University, he proudly served in the Army. Jerry went on to earn his medical degree at the University of Iowa. He returned to Davenport establishing an anesthesia practice which served Mercy and St. Luke's Hospitals.
He met the love of his life, Loretta Brophy on a blind date and was happily married for 63 years. Traveling the world together, they loved sharing stories of their adventures. Remembered for his humor and generosity, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing tennis, using his toolbox (or duct tape) to repair most anything, and watching Iowa Hawkeye sports.
His memberships included Holy Family, St. John Vianney, Knights of Columbus, Quarterback and Outing Clubs.
Survivors include his children: David (Elaine) Glowacki, Madison, WI, Susan (Mark) McClure, St. Louis, MO, Dr. Carol Glowacki, Philadelphia, PA, Patricia (Charles) Burns, Nashua, NH, and Dr. Richard (Jennifer) Glowacki, West Des Moines; ten grandchildren; his brother, Don (Sandra) Glowacki, Davenport; and sisters-in-law: Sharon Glowacki, Rose Pederson, and Patricia Brophy.
Dr. Glowacki was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta; his daughter, Dr. Jean Glowacki; siblings: George (Genevieve) Glowacki, Eugene (Rosemary) Glowacki, Delores (Donald) Warlop, Richard (Penny) Glowacki, and William Glowacki.
