Betty Blankman

BETTY BLANKMAN Longtime International Falls resident and much-loved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Betty Lou Blankman died on October 6, 2024, in the Good Samaritan Care Center. She was 94 years old. Betty was born to Jesse and Anna Hall on March 16, 1930, of South International Falls. Betty was a 1948 graduate of Falls Senior High School and subsequently attended Lutheran Brethren Bible College in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. Betty and John Blankman were married in the Mission Covenant Church of South International Falls in 1951. Betty loved the Lord Jesus Christ with all of her heart and was an active member of the Evangelical Covenant Church. She served as the Sunday school secretary for decades and frequently sang in a ladies trio as well as duets with her husband, John. During the 1960s and 1970s, Betty was also a loving mother of more than twenty-five foster children and provided childcare to several working parents. Betty had a multitude of friends whom she regularly met for coffee at Bridgeman's, later Cookie's, and then Hardee's. Her social calendar was always full and she will be missed by so many. Betty was a woman of prayer and her faith in the Lord was everything to her. Sunday was her favorite day of the week! Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 43 years, John W. Blankman, brothers Dale and Jess Hall, infant brother Buddy, sisters Marvel Beaumont, and Helen Nordlund. Betty is survived by her sons Drew Blankman (Candie) of Palm Desert, CA, Jon Blankman (Cathy), her daughter Dawnelle Meyers (Kerry), and sister Shirley Anderson all of the Falls. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, and nineteen great-grandchildren. A celebration of her life will be held at the Evangelical Covenant Church of International Falls on Monday, October 14th at 1:00 pm preceded by an 11:00 am graveside service at Forest Hill Cemetery.
