Art 'AC' Storlie, 83, of Glendive, Montana, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at the Glendive Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family, after a short battle with cancer.
Born November 23, 1941, in Glendive, Art was the son of Carl Storlie and Olga Nadwornick. He was raised on a farm in the Pleasant View area by Olga and Phil Nadwornick, where his roots and values were firmly planted. A graduate of Dawson County High School, Art went on to serve his country in the United States Army, completing a tour in Germany. He carried his pride as a veteran with quiet dignity throughout his life.
On December 29, 1962, Art married the love of his life, Rose Higlin, in Glendive. Together they built a family filled with love, laughter, and adventure. He was blessed with three wonderful daughters-Tammy (Todd 'Big E') Erickson, Lynn (Tyke) Sandretzky, and Julie (Bob) Nasheim-who knew him not only as their father, but as their hero. He was also blessed with an honorary son, Cole (Jamie) Higlin, and one of his greatest joys came from being grandpa to his granddaughters, Megan (Brandon) Scheetz and Kelsey (Shane) Lackman, and great-grandchildren Mazie, Jagger, Paycen, and Gracie.
Art is also survived by his siblings Betty (Dick) Ulrich, Jerry Rogers, Ron (Glenda) Nadwornick, and Karel (Ernie) Huether, as well as a wide circle of extended family and dear friends. He is proceeded in death by his siblings Carl Norman Storlie and MaryAnn Nadwornick.
Art spent his working years in the oilfield, where he formed lifelong friendships and earned the respect of everyone who knew him. He was a jack of all trades and was the go-to source of wisdom. If you needed an answer, Art had it.
A man of many passions, Art loved hunting and fishing. He was known as the master gardener of Forest Park, proudly crowned the 'Salsa King,' and prided himself on keeping the best yard in the neighborhood. He also had a knack for the grill-nobody barbequed a better steak.
Family vacations, especially trips to Ellensburg, Washington, to visit his father, stepmother (Lois), and cousins, created cherished memories. His last family vacation to Ellensburg with his wife and daughters was in September 2024, a reminder of his love of family togetherness.
Art was known for his kindness, his hugs, his laughter, and the way he always thought of others first. He was the guy everybody loved-the thoughtful, sweet, positive, loving man who gave his all to his family. To his daughters, he was simply "the best dad a girl could ask for."
Per Art's wishes, cremation has taken place and no services will be held. His family asks that in his honor, you enjoy a good steak, tend to your garden, cast a line, or share a hug with someone you love.
