Chad Daniel Downs

With deep sorrow, we share that Chad Daniel Downs passed away on July 13, 2025, at the age of 42. Born in Lindsay, Montana, to Charmaine Huffman and Andrew Downs, Chad's life began on the family farm-where he developed his strong work ethic, love for ranching, and passion for the outdoors.

Chad was a spirited and adventurous soul who lived life fully. Whether snowmobiling through fresh powder or hiking mountain trails, he found peace and joy in nature. He loved sports in his youth-especially baseball and wrestling-and later channeled his determination into competitive fitness. When Chad set his mind to something, he gave it his all.

He had an infectious personality and a heart that was always open to others. Chad was proud to be a son, brother, uncle, and friend. He had a gift for lifting people up, often with laughter, and would do anything for those he cared about.

Professionally, Chad excelled in the oilfield industry before launching Bar 7 Rentals, a thriving business that reflected his entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to his community. Though life presented its challenges, Chad faced them with strength and grace, never letting hardship define him.

Chad leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and connection. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Jack Patterson and Jack Downs, and his grandmother, Lorraine Loop. He is survived by his mother, Charmaine Huffman; father and stepmother, Andy and Dalice Downs; brothers, Chase (Brittany) Downs and Quaid (Sarah) Huffman; stepbrother, Aaron (Heather) McIntyre; nieces, Reese and Claire Downs; nephews, Lochland Huffman, Alex Eaton, Hayden McIntyre, and Jett McIntyre; and grandmother, Betty Downs.

Chad touched many lives and will be remembered for his courage, kindness, and adventurous spirit. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Visitation will be from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at the Silha Funeral Home in Glendive. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 18, 2025 at Zion Lutheran Church in Glendive with Pastor Avis Anderson officiating. Interment will be in the Dawson County Cemetery. Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Memorials in Chad's name are suggested to any local youth activity organization (Legion baseball, Lead Devils, 4H, etc.)
