Eva Libby Walker Preston, age 93, formerly of Glendive, Montana, passed peacefully into eternity on October 31, 2025, at the Edgewood Memory Care Facility in Billings Montana. Eva rejoiced to join her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in His heavenly home.
Eva was born on January 27, 1932, the daughter of Richard and Shirley (Church) Libby. She spent her growing up years in Richey, Montana. Eva loved sports and played basketball in high school. She graduated from Richey High School. Eva married Earl Walker on December 29, 1949, and they made their home in and around Bloomfield, Montana, where they farmed and kept the Bloomfield Post Office in one room of their home. Earl was the Postmaster and Eva served as his assistant. The home was blessed with three children, Colleen, Ellen and Roger.
Earl and Eva enjoyed playing pinochle, something they often did with family and friends and was a pastime that continued for Eva even when she moved to an assisted living facility in Billings. She became part of a four-some that would sneak out and get together in the evenings to play, even during Covid.
Eva was a faithful Christian, attending for many years the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church of Bloomfield. There she taught Sunday School, participated in the music and women's meetings, and in other activities of the church. She loved music and had great fun in the local Kitchen Kutie Band and sang for years in the Evangelical women's group, Timeless Praise.
Eva was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She was loved by her family and friends alike and was famous for her delicious cinnamon rolls and many other culinary treats. Some of her greatest joys in life included traveling and, especially, spending time with her Grands and Greats! She loved to hug them, listen to them, encourage them and spoil them when the opportunity presented itself.
Earl and Eva later moved to Glendive and Eva became an active volunteer. Earl died in 1994. In 2009, Eva married Larry Preston. Larry passed away in 2017.
Eva was preceded in death by her parents, by 3 sisters and a brother, by husbands Earl Walker and Larry Preston, and son Roger Walker. She is survived by daughters Colleen (Tom) Berry and Ellen (Jim) McBride, as well as 6 grandchildren and their spouses, 22 great grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and 6 adult Preston stepchildren.
Visitation for Eva Preston will be held at the Silha Funeral Home in Glendive on Friday, November 14, 2025 from 6-7 PM. A Prayer Service with Time of Sharing will follow at 7 PM. Funeral services will be held at the Westside Baptist Church on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at 10:00 AM. Interment will be in the Dawson Memorial Cemetery. Silha Funeral Home of Glendive is entrusted with arrangements.
It is requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Eastern Montana Bible Camp or Edgewood Memory Care in Billings.
