Kathryn Ann "Kathy" Chrest

1936 - 2025

Kathryn "Kathy" Ann Farrell Chrest passed away peacefully at home on March 28, 2025, surrounded by her family. Born March 26, 1936 on the family farm in Tappen, ND, she was the eldest of James and Harriet Farrell's four children that included Frances, Robert and Margaret. The family moved to Glendive, MT, where Kathy attended Dawson County High School. On November 24, 1960, she married Richard "Dick" Chrest. They raised four children; Rae Ann (Randy) Eklund, Lisa (Mark) Buckley, Carol Chrest and Gere (Dennis) Garcia. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren and Edie Love a cherished and special addition to the family.

A move to Missoula in 1972 brought a new career at the local credit union where she enjoyed working with the public until retirement called.

Kathy loved traveling, going to the gym, playing bridge, watching BBC programming on PBS, reading, having a clean house with streakless windows and chatting at the kitchen table with a cup of coffee. But mostly she loved her husband and her family as illustrated by the endless greeting cards she sent for every occasion as well as her signature Hallmark Christmas ornaments meticulously chosen to suit each member of the family. She was stubborn, thoughtful, sarcastic, loyal and a sharp dresser. She will be missed more than words can express. Per her request, no services are planned.
